What makes a LinkedIn post work

LinkedIn truncates your post after roughly 210 characters on mobile. Everything that earns the click on “see more” has to happen in the first two lines: a specific claim, a number, or the moment something went wrong. Restating the topic in line one wastes the only part most people read.

After the hook, keep paragraphs to one or two sentences with blank lines between them. LinkedIn's feed is read on phones, and a solid block of text is scrolled past. Close on a single clear thought — a question is optional, and only worth adding if you would actually reply to the answers.

Pick the format before you write

  • Story → lesson: A specific thing that happened, then what it taught you.
  • Numbered list: 3–7 short points, one line each.
  • Contrarian take: Common advice, why it fails, what to do instead.
  • How-to / playbook: The steps you actually used, in order.
  • Announcement: News, launch or milestone without the press-release tone.

Need openers rather than a whole post? The hook generator gives you eight angles on the same idea, and the character counter checks your draft against every platform limit.

Frequently asked questions

Is this LinkedIn post generator free?

Yes — you can generate LinkedIn posts here without an account. There is an hourly fair-use limit. A PostingPilot trial removes it and adds scheduling and direct publishing to LinkedIn.

How long should a LinkedIn post be?

LinkedIn allows 3,000 characters, but only about 210 show before the “see more” cut on mobile. Posts that land the point in the first two lines and run 800–1,500 characters tend to read best.

How many hashtags should I use on LinkedIn?

Three to five relevant hashtags at the end is the usual advice. Long hashtag walls read as spam and crowd out the copy itself.

Will the post sound like me and not like AI?

Paste 200–2,000 characters of your own LinkedIn writing into the writing sample field. The generator mirrors your sentence length, rhythm and vocabulary instead of defaulting to generic corporate copy.

Can I publish straight to LinkedIn?

Not from this free tool. Inside PostingPilot you can connect your LinkedIn profile or page, schedule the post, and publish it directly.

Do this on autopilot
PostingPilot writes in your voice, scores drafts before they go out, and publishes them directly to your connected channels.
